Key Health Benefits:

Broccoli microgreens are among the most researched microgreens and are especially valued for their high concentration of sulforaphane, a bioactive compound formed from glucoraphanin when the greens are consumed. Sulforaphane has been widely studied for its role in supporting the body’s natural detoxification systems by activating antioxidant and cellular defence pathways, including those involved in liver health. Regular consumption of broccoli microgreens is associated with reduced oxidative stress and inflammation, which supports cardiovascular and metabolic health. Emerging research suggests sulforaphane supports brain health and cellular resilience, while its antimicrobial properties have been studied for maintaining a balanced gut environment.

Compared to mature broccoli, microgreens offer a milder, fresher flavour that is easy to incorporate into daily meals, and they provide these benefits in small portions with significantly lower resource use (growing broccoli microgreens uses approximately 158 to 236 times less water than growing a nutritionally equivalent amount of mature broccoli), making them both nutritionally powerful and environmentally sustainable.
